Anna Stéphany joined Wokingham Choral Society at Reading University Great Hall on 18th November 2006 to perform Mozart's Vesperae solennes de confessore K339 and Haydn's Missa in Angustiis (Nelson Mass).

Winner of the 2005 Kathleen Ferrier Award Anna Stéphany was educated as an undergraduate at King's College London and later gained a MMus in Singing from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama before joining the National Opera Studio in September 2005. In 2005 she was also the winner of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama Gold Medal, the Clonter Opera Prize and the Joaninha Trust Award. She was supported in her studies at the National Opera Studio by British American Tobacco and The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and by the MBF. Anna is also a Samling Scholar.

Anna's operatic roles include Dorabella Cosi fan tutte and Juno Semele for British Youth Opera, Smeraldina The Little Green Swallow, Concepçion L'heure espagnole, the title role in Mignon by A Thomas and Marcellina The Marriage of Figaro at the Guildhall. In opera scenes Romeo I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Juno Semele, Nancy Albert Herring, Kate Owen Wingrave, Sifare Mitridate and Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden (Spring). Anna sang with the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus in 2002 and 2003.

Anna has appeared as a soloist with numerous choral societies including The Bach Choir, Highgate Choral Society, The London Chorus and The Philharmonia Chorus, with orchestras such as the OAE, Britten Symphonia under David Hill, the Orchestra of St Jonh's under John Lubbock and the Flemish Radio Orchestra under Yoel Levi, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and at the Leith Hill Festival. Peformances include Angel/The Dream of Gerontius in Exeter Cathedral, Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall under Sir David Willcocks, Zemlinsky Maeterlinck Lieder with the Flemish Radio Orchetra and Mozart's Requiem in the Mostly Mozart Festival at the Barbican Concert Hall in London.

As an accomplished lieder singer she has given recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Wigmore Hall with pianist Jonathan Beatty and performed with Simon Lepper at the Barber Institute in Birmingham. She has worked with Malcolm Maritneau and Simon Over and gave a recital at the Oxford Piano Festival in July with Roger Vignoles. She recently took part in the Academie at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and was awarded the Amis du Festival Prize for best singer.

Future engagements include concerts with the Northern Symphonia and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Berlioz's Enfance du Christ at the Spitlafields Festival in December. In 2007 she will sing the roles of Euridice and Speranza in Monteverdi's Orfeo for Opera North and will sing the role of Rheinmaiden in Gotterdammerung at the Proms.
