Claire Barnett-Jones            Mezzo Soprano

Hailed as "clearly a young singer to watch" (Opera Today), Mezzo Soprano Claire Barnett-Jones has performed as Soloist on the Last Night of the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, for Opera National de Bordeaux, with the Orchestra of Valencia and at the Wigmore Hall and Leeds Lieder Festival.

She has had much success in competitions including winning the Elly Ameling Masterclass Prize at the IVC Competition in the Netherlands, the Patricia Routledge English Song Prize and the Mario Lanza Opera Prize.

On the operatic stage, Claire's repertoire includes roles such as; Zita Gianni Schicchi, Sorceress Dido and Aeneas and Hexe Hansel und Gretel, La Zia Principessa Suor Angelica, Baba the Turk The Rake's Progress, Marcellina Le Nozze di Figaro, Ottavia L'incoronazione di Poppea. She created the role of 'Alto 1' in the Stockhausen's Mittwoch Aus Licht with Birmingham Opera Company and BBC Proms. For British Youth Opera she performed Maurya Riders to the Sea where she was awarded the Basil A Turner Prize.

Claire recently completed her studies on Royal Academy Opera where she was a Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Soloist and a member of the Royal Academy of Music Song Circle. Claire is currently studying towards an Artist's Diploma at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor Susan McCulloch.
