Stuart Pendred           Bass Baritone

Stuart Pendred originally trained as an actor and his career has spanned film, television, theatre and musicals. Through studying with Julian Gavin and coaching with David Syrus and Phillip Thomas he moved into operatic repertoire and has built a career as a bass-baritone. He has performed in masterclasses with Sir John Tomlinson, Petra Lang and Dame Anne Evans and currently studies with Janice Chapman. Stuart is the recipient of the inaugural Carole Rees Award for Advanced Vocal Studies.

Operatic roles include Hagen Götterdämmerung for Longborough Festival Opera in 2012 & 2013; Nachtwatchman in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Saffron Hall; Marullo Rigoletto for Grange Park Opera; Baron Dauphol La traviata directed by Dr Jonathan Miller, Holländer (cover) Der fliegende Holländer, Montano Otello & Sciarrone Tosca all for Dorset Opera Festival; Escamillo Carmen for Impact Opera; Baron Dauphol La traviata for Opera at Bearwood and Escamillo Carmen for New Vic Opera.

On the concert platform his performances include Brahms Ein deutsches requiem, Mozart Requiem and Handel Messiah. Stuart is also a recording artist, his debut solo album, Benedizioni, was released in 2008 to great critical acclaim, followed by his second album, Agnus Dei in 2011.

In the current season Stuart will perform Kurwenal in Tristan und Isolde for Longborough Festival Opera.
