William Vann           Piano

William Vann hails from Bedford and read Law at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge before studying as a pianist at the Royal Academy of Music with Malcolm Martineau and Colin Stone. He graduated with distinction and has recently awarded an Associateship of the RAM in recognition of his services to the music profession.

He has won many prizes for his piano accompaniment including the Gerald Moore award, the Wigmore Song Competition Duo Prize and the Royal Overseas League Accompanists' Award. He is a Samling Artist, a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, a Britten-Pears Young Artist, the co-chairman of Kensington and Chelsea Music Society, a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, the assistant conductor and chorus master at Bury Court Opera, the Director of Music at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, and the Artistic Director of the London English Song Festival, the fifth season of which will take place in June this year.

Recent performances have included several appearances at Wigmore Hall, concerts at the Aldeburgh Festival, the Handel Festival, the Oxford Lieder Festival, Sage, Gateshead, St Martin-in-the-Fields and St John's, Smith Square and abroad in Germany (on live ZDF television), Ireland, Sweden, Nigeria (on live Lagos television) and South Africa (in the National Arts Festival).

His debut CD as a pianist was recorded with Njabulo Madlala and is available on the Champs Hill label.
