Andrew Kennedy sang with Wokingham Choral Society at Eton College Chapel on 24 March 2002 performing J. S. Bach's Mass in B Minor.
He joined the Society again
at Eton College School Hall on
30 March 2003 to perform Vivaldi's
Coronation Anthems (including Zadok the Priest) and Handel's
Ode on St. Cecilia's Day.
Andrew Kennedy Tenor
25-year old British tenor Andrew Kennedy studied at King's College, Cambridge and the RCM. Andrew has won numerous prizes and awards including 1st Prizes in the 2002 London Handel Competition and the 1999 Great Elm Vocal Awards.
Roles at College include Lysander in John Copley's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Mr Upfold in Albert Herring produced by Sir Thomas Allen and Oedipus in Oedipus Rex (Stravinsky). Other opera includes Artabanes in Artaxerxes (Arne) with the Classical Opera Company and Franchetto in I due baroni di Rocca Azzura (Cimarosa) with Bampton Classical Opera where he was described in the Independent as "one of the best golden hopes among young British opera singers."
As a concert soloist Andrew regularly works with the English Concert and recently appeared at the Wigmore Hall accompanied by Trevor Pinnock and Phantasm in a programme of lute songs and madrigals. He also appears regularly as a soloist with the London Handel Orchestra. Other work includes a recital of Rodgers and Hammerstein songs with Sir Thomas Allen and the world premiere performance of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Canticum Canticorum in Nürnburg. Andrew studies with Ryland Davies and, from September, will be one of the Vilar Young Artists at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
