Anna Burford will join Wokingham Choral Society

Anna Burford Mezzo-Soprano
Born in Cornwall, Anna studied at the RNCM in Manchester on being awarded an entrance scholarship. She studied with Elizabeth Vaughan for two years and then with Robert Alderson.
During her time at college, Anna appeared with The New Ensemble for the première of Ian Vine's The Other Relics; she covered the role of Bianca in the award-winning 1996 production of The Rape of Lucretia, and sang the role of Nancy in Albert Herring.
She has appeared in master-classes with Benjamin Luxon, Malcolm Martineau and James Bowman.
Her recent engagements have included Olga (Eugene Onegin) for European Opera in France and Germany, Clonter Opera, Opera Holland Park and at the 1998 Buxton Festival; Semira in Italy; the title role in the Rape of Lucretia with Flanders Opera Studio in Belgium; Ursula for Welsh National Opera, and the title role of Orfeo in Strasbourg. Concert experience includes Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall; Mozart's Requiem at the Bridgewater Hall; Verdi's Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall; and Berio's Folksongs at Flanders Opera in Antwerp.
Future engagements include Roswita at the Châtelet in Paris; Anna (The Trojans) for English National Opera; Maddalene and Suzuki for Welsh National Opera; and Sesto for Opera Ireland.
