Anna Gillingham            Soprano

Anna studies on the opera course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She made her professional operatic debut with Garsington Opera in 2012 as Manuelita in La Périchole by Offenbach and roles at Guildhall include Francesca in the UK stage premiere of Donizetti's Francesca di Foix and Mrs. Julian in Britten's Owen Wingrave.

Anna recently won a coveted place on the prestigious Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto in Tuscany.

Future roles include Mimì La Bohème in a concert performance in Cambridge; Judith Weir's one woman opera King Harald's Saga in the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre; a lunchtime recital in St. Martin-in-the-fields; a Christmas concert with Guildford Choral Society in GLive; Opera South's New Year Gala; a Park Lane Group Concert in the Purcell Room and the Blue Fairy in Dove's Adventures of Pinocchio at Guildhall.

Anna has sung in the Oxford Lieder (Schumann Frauenliebe und -leben), City of London and Cheltenham Festivals, in the Barbican Concert Hall and Pit Theatre, for In Tune on Radio 3, for the Song Guild at Guildhall and in LSO St. Lukes.

Anna won the Paul Hamburger Prize and the MBF Miriam Licette Prize for her interpretations of lied and French song.

Opera scenes roles include Manon, Donna Elvira, Violetta, Nannetta, Pamina, Norina, Poppea and Fiordiligi. Anna's concert repertoire includes Mozart Exultate Jubilate, Haydn Nelson Mass and Handel Messiah.

Anna read Music at Queens' College, Cambridge and graduated in 2010 with a Double First. Her studies are generously supported by Dr. and Mrs. Padfield, Serena Fenwick, The Worshipful Company of Weavers and The Headley Trust.
