Patrick Terry Countertenor
Patrick earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2014 with Adriana Zabala and at the Royal Acadey of Music with Michael Chance and Caitlin Hulcup, supported by the Josephine Baker Trust, the John J Adams Scholarship and the Help Musicians U.K. Sybil Tutton Award.
His competition successes include placing second in the 2015 Joan Chissell Schumann Lieder Competition, winning the 2014 Maureen Lehane Vocal Award, the Loveday Song Prize in the 2017 Kathleen Ferrier Competition, and the 2017 Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks Award.
Patrick has been seen touring England with the Merry Opera Company, the RAM/Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata series, and the English Baroque Choir. As a recitalist Patrick has performed at the Wigmore Hall with Imogen Cooper and RAM's Song Circle, and he was a finalist in the 2017 Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Competition with the Southbank Sinfonia.
His operatic engagements include singing Oberon in Chicago Summer Opera's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Ottone in L'incoronazione di Poppea and Ruggiero in Alcina with the Royal Academy Opera, and covering Guildenstern in Glyndebourne Festival Opera's commission Hamlet (Brett Dean).
During the 2017/2018 season Patrick toured with Melos Sinfonia as The Boy/Angel 1 in Written on Skin (George Benjamin), sang The Refugee in Royal Academy Opera's 2018 production of Flight (Jonathan Dove), will appear in Nuova Musica's Teseo at the London Handel Festival in the title role and will cover Nireno in Giulio Cesare with Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
In the fall Patrick will join the Royal Opera House as a Jette-Parker Young Artist.
