Richard Coxon will join Wokingham Choral Society

Richard Coxon Tenor
Born in Nottingham, Richard Coxon studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he won a number of prizes, including the Clonter Opera Prize, the Ricordi Opera Prize, and the Webster Booth/Esso Award.
He made his professional operatic debut as Flavio in Norma for Scottish Opera, subsequently spending three years with the company as Principal Tenor, his roles including Jaquino in Fidelio, Nemorino in L'elesir d'amore, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Alfredo in La Traviata, and The Sailor in Tristan und Isolde. Other operatic roles have included Nemorino and Alfreo for Opera Northern Ireland, Nemorino for Opera Zuid in Masstricht, and Young Convict in From the House of the Dead, Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos for English National Opera, and Mr By-Ends in The Pilgrim's Progress and Gaston in La Traviata for the Royal Opera.
Concert appearances have included Messiah with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, St Paul with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, as well as engagements with BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC SYmphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia, the Hallé Orchestra, the London Medici, the London Pops Orchestra, the Manchester Camerata, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Richard Coxon's recordings include Squeak in Billy Budd, Lieutenant Bonnet in War and Peace, and Mr By-Ends in The Pilgrim's Progress for Chandos, and Lucifer/Satan in Stravinsky's The Flood for 20th Century Classics. He also took the role of Sam in Don Boyd's file Lucia.
Among his most recent engagements are Squeak in Billy Budd for the Royal Opera, Bill in Jonathan Dove's Flight at the Glyndebourne Festival, Vanya Kudrjash in Katya Kabanova for both Florida Grand Opera and the Opéra de Montréal, Narraboth in Salome for Scottish Opera, Tom Rakewell in The Rake's Progress for New Isaeli Opera, Lieutenant Bonnet in War and Peace, and The Italian Tenor in Der Rosenkavalier at the Spoleto Festival, Edoardo in Un Gíorno dí Regno at the Buxton Festival, The Steersman in Der Fliegende Holländer for Opera Ireland. he also recently made first appearance on Friday Night is Music Night.
Forhcoming engagements include The Painter in Lulu for Engliah National Opera, Bob Boles in Peter Grimes for Florida Grand Opera, Bill in Flight for the Nationale Reisopera, Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore for the Hallé Orchestra, the Bruckner Te Deum with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Dream of Gerontius in Southwell Minster, and the Verdi Requiem at the Dorking Halls.
