Stuart Laing    Tenor

Stuart Laing            Tenor

Born in Perth, Western Australia, Stuart graduated with a bachelor of music from Edith Cowan University and went on to become an emerging artist at the Australian Opera Studio.

His notable performances at the studio include the title roles in La clemenza di Tito and Idomeneo. From the studio Stuart went on to become a Wesfarmers Young Artist at the West Australian Opera Company performing the roles of Don Basilio, Don Curzio, Remendado, Nick La Fanciulla del West and Horace Adams Peter Grimes.

In 2010 Stuart moved to London to study on the opera course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Highlights include playing Lysander at the Barbican theatre and playing the role of the Stage Manager in the European Premier of Our Town to critical acclaim.

Since graduating from the Guildhall Stuart has covered the role of Lensky for Grange Park Opera and The Ryedale Festival, toured with Opera Australia's Don Pasquale to Japan and played Froh in Fulham Opera's Rheingold and has recently performed in the three main stage operas at the Wexford Festival Opera.

On the concert platform Stuart has performed works spanning from Bach to Goodall with the Cheltenham Kings Choir, The Minehead Choral Society, the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, the University of Western Australia, St Georges Cathedral and Collegium Symphonic Chorus. He has also performed several recitals broadcast over ABC classic FM Australia.

Future engagements include; the role of Squire Lovemore in Bury Court Opera's The Lottery in February 2014 and another season with Grange Park Opera, summer 2014.
