A warm welcome awaits you at Wokingham Choral Society

WOKINGHAM CHORAL SOCIETY is the major mixed choir in the Wokingham area with over 100 dedicated and enthusiastic members. We have a professional Musical Director and Accompanist and normally perform with professional soloists and orchestras.

We perform two major concerts every year, plus a Christmas carol concert and a summer concert featuring a selection of lighter choral music.

In 2012 we celebrated our Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Season with a highly acclaimed performance of Monteverdi's Vespers. The centrepiece of our Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022 will be a performance of Bach's B Minor Mass.

2020 was a COVID19 washout, but in 2019 we performed Haydn's Creation and Dvořák: Stabat Mater and in 2018 Handel's Messiah.

More singers are always welcome, be you soprano, alto, tenor or bass, so if you think you might enjoy the experience of singing glorious master-works surrounded by fellow enthusiasts whilst being led by accomplished professionals, what are you waiting for? You can sit in on one or two rehearsals at any time before committing yourself.

We are particularly keen to encourage young singers, and so we offer bursaries to sixth form students and a substantially reduced subscription to anyone who is 25 years old and under. This is a brilliant opportunity to experience the awesome feeling of singing with a choir of 110 mixed voices. You can all be assured of a welcome and support from fellow members

For more information please contact the Membership Secretary, Caroline Fulton by email or call her on 0118 969 7666.

We are currently rehearsing on-line over Zoom, but normally rehearse in the School Hall of The Emmbrook Senior School, Emmbrook Road, Wokingham RG41 1JP from 7.30pm to 9.45pm each Thursday.

CALLING ALL TENORS & BASSES!

To continue our success we are especially looking for more Tenors (male or female) & Basses to strengthen these voice sections. You will be warmly welcomed into the choir and will receive any help you may need. We are especially interested in hearing from singers who may already be singing with a church choir, or have similar experience with other choirs. We perform a wide variety of music styles.

If you would prefer to have an initial chat, please feel free to contact our Tenor Representative, by email, or Bass Representative by email, who will be delighted to answer any questions you may have.
